THE TRUE SPIRIT OF EASTER

i am so grateful to GOD for all the blessings and i join everyoneelse in this holy week's observations and celebrations.


This post is dedicated to all my catholic friends and readers.today is the holiest day of LENT period-GOOD FRIDAY.It is observed with great reverence.

and yesterday was MAUNDY THURSDAY.The priest washed the feet of the faithful symbolically recalling JESU'S washing of the feet of his disciples on Thursday.


Catholics all over the world observe GOOD FRIDAY with fasting and
praying.this is in commeration with the crucifixion and death of JESUS CHRIST.the image of the crucified JESUS will be lowered in the churches.it's so touching to observe that people cry on seeing the enactment.the bringing down of the body of JESUS starts with two priests first moving towards the altar accompanied with ladders.the priests then place the ladders onto the cross,one on either side,climb up the ladders and tie the hands of the LORD who will be lowered later.they then remove the crown of thorns from JESU'S face and then start removing the nails from the hands.the body is then lowered into a coffin like cloth structure,after which the body is taken in procession.following the body,of JESUS, in the coffin is the image of the mother of JESUS ,which sends tears flowing from the eyes of the faithful.this is a sacred tradition.

LORD teaches us,there is no greater love if we give our life for someoneelse.GOOD FRIDAY services are held at many churches starting at 3p.m.priests stressed on the need to make sacrifices and abstain from living a luxurious life.they also want the faithful to reflect on the need to help the needy and downtrodden and remind them about the sufferings CHRIST had to undergo to save mankind.

GOOD FRIDAY commemorates the crucifixion of JESUS CHRIST in JERUSALEM more than two thousand years back.

today i HOLY SATURDAY.christians believe in the creation of new sky and new earth.holy water is sprinkled on all the things.

shri shri ravi shankar reminds me of JESUS.his personality,calm looks,long beard nad hair always makes me think of JESUS.

today is saturday.the special day of my life-my birthday.thanks to all my near and dear ones for making it the really special-chothi star of meena masam.iam really touched by the phone calls right from five a.m [nanda n amma woke me up] till now and for all the e-greetings.

as the holidays continue,iam so happy.and just hours to pass.it's the GRAND DAY COMING UP-EASTER!! EASTER signifies the resurrection of CHRIST after his crucifixion and painful death and thus signifies new life.similarly eggs,which are associated with EASTER ,signify a new life.easter eggs are in galore.let's taste the amazing EASTER eggs.

EASTER day is always on a sunday.EASTER got its name from the GODDESS of Spring called,ESTORE .

i feel like joining the midnight mass.it gives us the spiritual feeling.tonight want to kneel down in the church and beg JESUS to pardon me for all the sins.as i am a convent product,iused to pray in the church daily.we have a church in the school compound.it was always my dream to kneel down and do the confession to the priest.

in chandra prabha,amma has kept the photo of JESUS along with HINDU GODS.can you believe friends,on the eve of CHRISTMAS,when the clock strikes twelve,amma gets up and prays to JESUS.and once,amma was fast asleep and we decided not to wake her up.she was so sad for missing the midnight prayer.

we always believe in communal harmony.my little star used to go to the church in blor'e often when she was doing her project.and here,in this state of numerous churches,we used to go to bambolim church,with maza andlittle star.the cross outside is always full of marigold garlands.passers by stop and pray for two minutes.

my neighbour,rose mary auntie is not here for this EASTER.she has left for states to be with her daughter.she is a fisherfolk woman and we can't talk as i haven't learnt the local language. yet i could borrow her caged parrot for my little star's dance.that was a wonderful folk dance my little star performed for her school annual day.communication doesn't need language.all the children had gathered around the parrot.

i miss the special palappam prepared by achamma as she is in thiruvalla now.achamma makes palappam with mutton stew.she doesn't buy the easter eggs;but boils eggs.i won't be going to loretta's home.i will greet her on phone.special wishes to joy kurian n fly at kottayam,justin,sr.modesta,sr.jancina,loretta and all other readers.a festive meal awaits tomorrow.

some easter delicacies are,easter eggs,chocolate caketc;

as you all know,EASTER is the time to celebrate new beginnings.let's forgive all those who have grudge against us.we will renew our ties.............

enjoy EASTER in true spirits.it's not just a commercial holiday.iam sure all of you will follow the traditions of EASTER and it's a family get together.

The EASTER BUNNY is a mythical character depicted as an anthropomorphic rabbit.in legend,the rabbit brings baskets filled with coloured eggs,candy and toys to the homes of children on the night before EASTER.the EASTER BUNNY will either put the baskets in a desinated place or hide them somewhere in the house for the children to find when they wake up in the morning.

EASTER is a time for hope,renewal of spirit,rekindling of faith,rejoicing of in the triumph of the LORD.Easter fills us with hope,joy and warmth.on this holy occasion,let's reach out to all our friends,family members,the less fortunate.

i am learning to accept those who are different from me and those who do things differently from me.hope enables us to accept the incompleteness in our lives without despiration.

as usual,we have the traditional EASTER DINE N DANCE at woodbourne country club,nuvem.here,people never miss a chance to shake their legs to the tunes of loud music.
