What Would You Do?

Russian Artists Chagall To The Moon Handpainted Pendant from ArtBeads

I’m packing for Ranger U and I won’t be back until Monday. I won’t post while I’m away so consider this a mini-vacation from The Impatient Crafter™. In the interim...I got this AMAZING bead in the mail from the folks at ArtBeads. They have an entire collection of these focal beads from Russia on their website. I selected this hand painted miniature reproduction of a Marc Chagall painting.

I am truly, madly and deeply in love with this bead.

It is so exquisite, so extraordinary, so fanfreakintabulous...I simply can’t bring myself to slap together a quickie free design project with it. I want to take my time...gaze at it lovingly...give it a pet name and keep it in my pocket...take it out and whisper to it. Okay maybe not so much the last part...but I do want to let it simmer on the creative back burner.

My question to you is...what would you do with this bead?

Think about it and let me know and I’ll post some of the best answers in a future blog with hot links to your site.

xoxo

ANU'S DAY OUT!

SILLY AND SERIOUS

4th may,2009

10.30 p.m

dear friends,
like the lady holding the lighted lamp,to spread the light
may i hope to take you the world of positive attitudes and values!
we didn't get heavy rain, today.it rained only in the morning.ettan is reaching with family on sixth morning from the middle east.so,i thought of being responsible, doing the shopping.we are lucky, there is a supermarket within walkable disatnce.we get everything here from vegetables to provisions, notebooks to bakery items.that's so convenient for us!

while getting ready,i told amma,on the way i can think of the script of my new post,as if i 've to answer my exam tomorrow!amma dearest just warned me to take care of the traffic and walk carefully.while walking, i was observing the surroundings, the deserted roads and the closed doors of houses.even the nearby school was quiet.serious teaching might be going on.whenevr i come on summer holidays,i have an urge to go and meet the principal and ask him to permit me to address the morning assembly, trying to impart a few values......but i never went inside.it can still happen anyday!

within half an hour ,we can reach the beautiful puzhakkal padam.it's full of muddy water and recentlycanoing was held here.it's a beautiful scenery!the coconut trees in lines and the storks in water waiting patiently to catch their prey, the ducks swimming inthe water and a number of unknown flowers.......a deep silence around........i love to spend my evenings here.

over the years,i've changed a lot,my attitude,my outlook and now you can see a smile on my face!once i reach the supermarket,i forget the 'must-buy-list' and start taking out whatever i feel like buying..........i stare at the books session and even the thin books of nursery rhymes make me excited.the girls are helpful and carry the baskets to the counters.music was on and the atmosphere was appealing.......anu doesn't mind someone to pay the bill before her and lavishly says,''thanks''to the girls..........and she enjoys the music.once the bill is paid, the security person will fetch you an auto and the girls will keep the big shopper in the rikshaw.

amma was waiting for me eagerly in the sit out.can you believe, the driver offered to get down and open the gate and i was surprised.i thanked him and paid the charge.good people still remain in this world.back at home, anu narrates everything ,whom she met on the road and in the shop and what she thought about others!a loving aged couple helping each other to carry heavy bags, the kindness of the security to fetch arikshaw,a kind gesture towards an old uncle in the shop........

friends, you may find anu so silly........i was serious about everything and now there's a sea change!experience is the best teacher.small things, need not be beautiful to touch my inner self.amma has afixed time tablefor the dayand lighting the lamp is at 5p.m.i feel nice and protecetd in our pooja room where Kannan along with other goddesses and gods smiling in the radiance spread by the lighted lamp.what a divine feeling.my little star always likes to light the evening lamp.and the odour of the incense sticks spreads.

let's be kind to others!here's a forwarded mail i received today from my mumbai friend.my days are made with a good read.

The Evil That You Do Stays! The Good That You Do eturns To You!

A womanthat baked chappatis for members of her family and an extra one for a hungry passerby. She kept the extra chappati on the window-sill, forwhosoever would take it away. Everyday, a hunchback came and took away the chappati. Instead of expressing gratitude, he muttered the following words as he went his way: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" This went on, day after day. Everyday, the hunch-back came, picked up the chappati and uttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The woman felt irritated. "Not a word of gratitude," she said to herself. "Everyday this hunchback utters this jingle! What does he mean?"One day, exasperated, she decided to do away with him. "I shall get rid of this hunchback," she said. And what did she do? She added poison to the chappati she prepared for him! As she was about to keep it on the window sill, her hands trembled. "What is this I am doing?" she said. Immediately, she threw the chapati into the fire, prepared another one and kept it on the window- sill. As usual, the hunchback came, picked up the chappati and muttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The hunchback proceeded on his way, blissfully unaware of the war raging in the mindof the woman. Everyday, as the woman placed the chappati on the window-sill, she offered a prayer for her son who had gone to a distant place to seek hisfortune. For many months, she had no news of him. She prayed for his safe return. That evening, there was a knock on the door. As she opened it, she wassurprised to find her son standing in the doorway. He had grown thin and lean. His garments were tattered and torn. He was hungry, starved andweak. As he saw his mother, he said, "Mom, it's a miracle I'm here. While I was but a mile away, I was so famished that I collapsed. Iwould have died, but just then an old hunchback passed by. I begged of him for a morsel of food, and he was kind enough to give me a wholechappati. As he gave it to me, he said, "This is what I eat everyday: today, I shall give it to you, for your need is greater than mine!"As the mother heard those words, her face turned pale. She leaned against the door for support. She remembered the poisoned chappati thatshe had made that morning. Had she not burnt it in the fire, it would have been eaten by her own son, and he would have lost his life! Itwas then that she realized the significance of the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!"

really,nice,isn't it?

please narrate this story to your near and dear ones and let them tell their friends!thus a healthy group is formed and good values will be spread.thanks alot my friend, for sending this beautiful mail.

seeking your cooperation and good will,

its anu signing off.............

SNAPS SPEAK

3rd June,2009

11.40p.m

FOR A CHANGE!
Dear Friends,
these lovely snaps are sent by nanda and maza from Montreal.they had an adventurous trip recently to the hills, rocky areas and the beautiful landscape of Montreal.the fountain is infront of PRLIAMENT HOUSE,QUBEC CITY,MONTREAL.and the beautiful water falls is Ausible Chasm.
those who have read my earlier posts know that water is my weakness and often i land up writing about rains, ancestoral kulam, river etc.you know, water is one of the most basic needs of aliving being on earth.
i live in a state gifted with natural beauty, rivers and seas.but, once in a month the pipe breaks religiouly and the whole life turns upside down!and don't expect the pipes will be repaired before four days!when everyone can manage with one bucket of water, anu needs minimum three buckets!
and the comments flow.........
''anu, you learn to manage.you're not an elephant to splash water and play''.
'' anu,enough is enough.water is precious.use it judiciously''.
''hey, what're you upto?we have to survive for four more days''.
everything falls on deaf years and anu sings the rhyme....''water water everywhere, but not a drop to drink''.
now things are different.this is GOD'S own country and i'm at trichur now.no problems.i can use water lavishly to my satisfaction.the first thingi do,in my home is keep the tap opened and admire the gushing water!and monsoon starts from tomorrow, great!i will be busy reading articles on how to harvest rain water, how to utilise the rain for the trees by digging pits.i love sitting out getting wet, enjoy the shivering leaves and the drooping flowers!go for a walk in the rain!celebrate this gift from GOD!
when i received the snaps,i thought of sharing them with you!the natural and man made sources of water.

on the high flood of my memory,
let me search for a path in the woods,
where i walked among the dried grass
looking for some water to quench my thirst,
i heard the footsteps of unknown traveller,
he had a bowl of water with him.
he gave me the colours and dreams ,
by his magical touch,
shall i pay my debt, just tell me,
as you are coming back!
it's anu signing off..............
hope and pray we can walk hand in hand........
sasneham,
anu

Dear Reader

Please excuse Margot from blogging today. She’s buried under a largish pile of straw and frantically whipping up a DIY pitchfork. There’s a big web project she’s been obsessing over and until it’s ready to reveal, she’s got to keep on plodding away. Insert plodding sounds here.

Please feel free to comment with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your time and understanding. You can get your daily dose of Madgey goodness on her interview about turning your hobby into a business at Reclaim U Radio today!

Social Networking Fatigue Syndrome

The Incomparable Lily Tomlin as Ernestine

Is it just me, or after a while does social networking start to feel like a huge, annoying chore? I used to get emails from friends, now I get messages, tweets, virtual cocktails, meaningless quiz requests, meaningless quiz results and TMI wall posts. I spend far too much time accepting or denying friends and followers, answering random messages, approving comments, deleting application requests, Tweeting and posting and blathering on and on about the most minute and inane details of my day to day life...ugh. Does anybody really care, and if they do...why?! I'm not here for the virtual cocktails...I'm here for the Fine Art of Shameless Self Promotion. If ya wanna chat, shoot me an email. If ya wanna get me a drinky, give me a real one, please! I love you...truly...but I absolutely do not give a flying you know what through a rolling donut what your five favorite breakfast cereals are.

I think I've developed Social Networking Fatigue Syndrome.

"I grow weary of the Interwebs." She says in her best Scarlett O'Hara voice bringing the back of her hand up to her forehead and making a rather largish sigh.

I need a Social Networking Assistant. Someone efficient, charming and ruthless. One day when I grow up I’ll be a big time Lifestyle Expert, NYT Best Selling Author, TV Host and International Celebrity with a horde of assistants and people who get paid to tell me I’m cute and smart. People who will laugh really loudly at my lame jokes and make my hair look good every day.

Someone will carry my umbrella when it rains and lug my bags through the airport...someone will clean my house, landscape my yard, care for my animals and cook gourmet meals...whip my flabby arse into shape and keep my face from falling...someone will organize my paperwork and keep my studio together...

Ah...it’s nice to dream...and no I can’t hire you so don’t Facebook message me about it. I can barely pay myself!

Until tomorrow...craft on with your bad selves!

Cheers,
Madge

THE SIGHS AND SORROWS OF THE ADORERS OF AAMI

THE PICTURE PERFECT

2nd june,tuesday

2009

12 noon

Dear Friends,

Our dearest Aami has parted with us forever today morning at PALAYAM JUMA MASJID in Thiruvananthapuram.the mayflower trees and the mahagony tree witnessed the last journey of the great poetess,Aami along with thousands of people.the religious leaders, the politicians, the rich and the poor, the writers and the lay man,the family members and the fans paid their last homage in reverence to our dearest MADHAVIKUTTY.

yesterday, late night a shattered voice asked me for consoling words to heal the wounds caused by the farewell of Aami.there was sincerity and love, devotiona nd honesty in that voice.to that broken heart,i present this,'PICTURE PERFECT'.

by now,all of you know the morning mail from chennai reaches me by 6a.m without fail.with courtesy to that dear friend of chennai,i publish today's mail as it reveals the perfect picture of my Aami.thank you so much,my dear friend for the timely mail.

before i start with the forwarded mail,i want to let you know that Aami was atalented artist.she has given life to many paintings!an all rounder for ever!

the lovely pink rose is from krish and the beautiful small flowers are offered by nanda and maza from MONTREAL.
I really hope and wish many, like maza those who have not read a single story or poem of Aami will start browsing through her lines.can you start and ignore the love flowing to you?
with the innocence of a child, here is a great woman writer who spoke her heart fearlessely and for that i became a sincere adorer of Aami.

one day a young man was standing in the middle of the town proclaiming that he had the most beautiful heart in the whole valley. A large crowd gathered and they all admired his heart for it was perfect. There was not a mark or a flaw in it.
Yes, they all agreed it truly was the most beautiful heart they had ever seen. The young man was very proud and boasted more loudly about his beautiful heart. Suddenly, an old man appeared at the front of the crowd and said,
"Why your heart is not nearly as beautiful as mine." The crowd and the young man looked at the old man's heart. It was beating strongly, but full of scars, it had places where pieces had been removed and other pieces put in, but they didn't fit quite right and there were several jagged edges. In fact, in some places there were deep gouges where whole pieces were missing.
The people stared -- how can he say his heart is more beautiful, they thought? The young man looked at the old man's heart and saw its state and laughed. "You must be joking," he said. "Compare your heart with mine, mine is perfect and yours is a mess of scars and tears."
"Yes," said the old man, "yours is perfect looking but I would never trade with you. You see, every scar represents a person to whom I have given my love - I tear out a piece of my heart and give it to them, and often they give me a piece of their heart which fits into the empty place in my heart, but because the pieces aren't exact, I have some rough edges, which I cherish, because they remind me of the love we shared. Sometimes I have given pieces of my heart away, and the other person hasn't returned a piece of his heart to me. These are the empty gouges -- giving love is taking a chance. Although these gouges are painful, they stay open, reminding me of the love I have for these people too, and I hope someday they may return and fill the space I have waiting. So now do you see what true beauty is?"
The young man stood silently with tears running down his cheeks. He walked up to the old man, reached into his perfect young and beautiful heart, and ripped a piece out. He offered it to the old man with trembling hands. The old man took his offering, placed it in his heart and then took a piece from his old scarred heart and placed it in the wound in the young man's heart. It fit, but not perfectly, as there were some jagged edges. The young man looked at his heart, not perfect anymore but more beautiful than ever, since love from the old man's heart flowed into his. They embraced and walked away side by side.

Aami's heart is exactly like the old man's heart.so beautiful, giving and mostly giving love to people around her.she made phone calls to her dear friends daily.reaching out to the needy ,to wipe away the tears and to gift a smile reflect the great personality.

Dearest Aami,we loved you earnestly and will love you forever.you will be alive in our hearts and you just can't be a picture on the wall.

it's anu signing off.............
i still remember, the day you mesmerized me,

forgetting all the sorrows,i basked in your love,

you are not here, today in our punnayoorkulam,
but i 'll wait for you under the shade of the neermathalam...........

hey, friends, would you gift me a part of your heart?

have a great day ahead............
sasneham,
anu
