SILLY AND SERIOUS

10.30 p.m
dear friends,
like the lady holding the lighted lamp,to spread the light
may i hope to take you the world of positive attitudes and values!
we didn't get heavy rain, today.it rained only in the morning.ettan is reaching with family on sixth morning from the middle east.so,i thought of being responsible, doing the shopping.we are lucky, there is a supermarket within walkable disatnce.we get everything here from vegetables to provisions, notebooks to bakery items.that's so convenient for us!
while getting ready,i told amma,on the way i can think of the script of my new post,as if i 've to answer my exam tomorrow!amma dearest just warned me to take care of the traffic and walk carefully.while walking, i was observing the surroundings, the deserted roads and the closed doors of houses.even the nearby school was quiet.serious teaching might be going on.whenevr i come on summer holidays,i have an urge to go and meet the principal and ask him to permit me to address the morning assembly, trying to impart a few values......but i never went inside.it can still happen anyday!
within half an hour ,we can reach the beautiful puzhakkal padam.it's full of muddy water and recentlycanoing was held here.it's a beautiful scenery!the coconut trees in lines and the storks in water waiting patiently to catch their prey, the ducks swimming inthe water and a number of unknown flowers.......a deep silence around........i love to spend my evenings here.
over the years,i've changed a lot,my attitude,my outlook and now you can see a smile on my face!once i reach the supermarket,i forget the 'must-buy-list' and start taking out whatever i feel like buying..........i stare at the books session and even the thin books of nursery rhymes make me excited.the girls are helpful and carry the baskets to the counters.music was on and the atmosphere was appealing.......anu doesn't mind someone to pay the bill before her and lavishly says,''thanks''to the girls..........and she enjoys the music.once the bill is paid, the security person will fetch you an auto and the girls will keep the big shopper in the rikshaw.
amma was waiting for me eagerly in the sit out.can you believe, the driver offered to get down and open the gate and i was surprised.i thanked him and paid the charge.good people still remain in this world.back at home, anu narrates everything ,whom she met on the road and in the shop and what she thought about others!a loving aged couple helping each other to carry heavy bags, the kindness of the security to fetch arikshaw,a kind gesture towards an old uncle in the shop........
friends, you may find anu so silly........i was serious about everything and now there's a sea change!experience is the best teacher.small things, need not be beautiful to touch my inner self.amma has afixed time tablefor the dayand lighting the lamp is at 5p.m.i feel nice and protecetd in our pooja room where Kannan along with other goddesses and gods smiling in the radiance spread by the lighted lamp.what a divine feeling.my little star always likes to light the evening lamp.and the odour of the incense sticks spreads.
let's be kind to others!here's a forwarded mail i received today from my mumbai friend.my days are made with a good read.
The Evil That You Do Stays! The Good That You Do eturns To You!
A womanthat baked chappatis for members of her family and an extra one for a hungry passerby. She kept the extra chappati on the window-sill, forwhosoever would take it away. Everyday, a hunchback came and took away the chappati. Instead of expressing gratitude, he muttered the following words as he went his way: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" This went on, day after day. Everyday, the hunch-back came, picked up the chappati and uttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The woman felt irritated. "Not a word of gratitude," she said to herself. "Everyday this hunchback utters this jingle! What does he mean?"One day, exasperated, she decided to do away with him. "I shall get rid of this hunchback," she said. And what did she do? She added poison to the chappati she prepared for him! As she was about to keep it on the window sill, her hands trembled. "What is this I am doing?" she said. Immediately, she threw the chapati into the fire, prepared another one and kept it on the window- sill. As usual, the hunchback came, picked up the chappati and muttered the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!" The hunchback proceeded on his way, blissfully unaware of the war raging in the mindof the woman. Everyday, as the woman placed the chappati on the window-sill, she offered a prayer for her son who had gone to a distant place to seek hisfortune. For many months, she had no news of him. She prayed for his safe return. That evening, there was a knock on the door. As she opened it, she wassurprised to find her son standing in the doorway. He had grown thin and lean. His garments were tattered and torn. He was hungry, starved andweak. As he saw his mother, he said, "Mom, it's a miracle I'm here. While I was but a mile away, I was so famished that I collapsed. Iwould have died, but just then an old hunchback passed by. I begged of him for a morsel of food, and he was kind enough to give me a wholechappati. As he gave it to me, he said, "This is what I eat everyday: today, I shall give it to you, for your need is greater than mine!"As the mother heard those words, her face turned pale. She leaned against the door for support. She remembered the poisoned chappati thatshe had made that morning. Had she not burnt it in the fire, it would have been eaten by her own son, and he would have lost his life! Itwas then that she realized the significance of the words: "The evil you do, remains with you: The good you do, comes back to you!"
really,nice,isn't it?
