Bad news for Indonesia as Sri Mulyani quits

Icon of Indonesia reform, the woman who ensures taxes are collected properly, one of the few incorruptible Cabinet ministers.
Those were some of her titles. Yesterday.
Today, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indriati has quit.
A former executive director of the IMF, she will now become managing director of the World Bank.

She was one of the professionals brought into the Indonesian Cabinet 5 years ago to help raise government standards, and had become synonymous with the cleaning up of the Finance Ministry. And her brand name helped bring in foreign investments.
Last year, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono brought in another reformist into his Cabinet, Boediono. The former central bank Governor.

But both Sri Mulyani and Boediono were whacked left, right and centre by powerful people in Parliament, an institution often accused of being filled with corrupt people (don't laugh if this sounds familiar).
Both have no political affiliations, only professionals brought in to help improve Indonesia.
Now she has had enough of politics.
