Flea Market Flim Flam and Saturday TastyLinks!

Here's a sad tale of the book that got away...

Ah, the old flea market flim flam. I shoulda known better.

We got lost this morning on the way to find a flea market we've never hit down the road a ways. We were actually almost there, but not sure, so we turned back around drove a few miles down the road and stopped at a convenience store for some water and asked directions. Oops. Then we turned back around yet again rehydrated and ready and we forged ahead. When we finally got there, it was a little disappointing. That's the thing about flea markets, they can be fun filled and fabulous or not so much.

It's gone from 50 degrees earlier this week to 90 degrees today, so it was hot, dusty and spread out over a large lot with a lot of empty stalls. I finally found a stall filled with things I liked, but all a little overpriced for the flea market connoisseur. I haggled a bargain on three items, one of which was a pristine 100 year old children's primer. It was from a set of three and the best one of the bunch and filled with wonderful images. Somehow when I got back into the car and we were about ten minutes down the road I realized I had the wrong book and she'd overcharged me. Did that nice school teacher really rip me off AND pull a switcheroo? Did she hear me tell my husband how nice the images were in the best book and slip me the other one while I wasn't looking?

Methinks...yes. Or perhaps I put the right one down and picked up the wrong one by accident, though she definitely overcharged me.

Sigh.

Oh well, as the flea market gods are my witnesses, I shall find a way to make this overpriced and underwhelming book worth every hard earned penny. Galdangy.

Here's a Madge Tip: Always pay attention while shopping at a flea market. Seems simple enough until you get distracted by a bag filled with old letters or a shiny old Schwinn bicycle with a flower trimmed basket.

But enough of my flea market flim flam whining, here's what the crafty bloggers have dished up for your craftertainment this week:
