An Outing To The World Of Greens!

Friday
Dear Friends,  Good Evening!
Rain started  from morning in Thrissur!A fresh and cool atmosphere! All the plants and trees look so beautiful! The raindrops shine on the leaves!
Thank you so much for your wonderful appreciation and feedback on my dearest Amma's poem,Love Of A Mother![previous post]!
,I had been to ShakthanThampuran Market in Thrissur!I always used to tell Nanda to go to this place where vegetables are piled up!The fresh green veggies!A place near to nature!I did buy lots of greens today and I thought of writing a post on my experiences .As children, we used to go to the fields to pluck the yellow golden cucumbers! How fresh and were they!We ate them raw. Then we had the long green beans in the landed property! We siblings and cousins enjoyed plucking the leaves and beans!Spilling the beans and frying the seeds were so exciting! In our ancestoral house we had amara panthal[a kind of broad beans].The tenants always brought bananas, pumkins, yams and cucumbers on the eve of the festivals and the eldest person of the house rewarded them properly. We had lots of paddy fields. The childhood days are the best part of my life!I always remember the cows and the buffaloes in the sheds!
In my school,Little Flower Convent Girls' High School, each class and section was alloted plots to cultivate tomatoes! As very young students we had the  competitive spirit to enhance the yiled to the best!:)I can still visulise those raw and ripe tomatoes!I can still feel those tomatoes.:)
A ll of us know, eating vegetables regularly in our diet have health benefits.Vegetables are one of the most important natural foods and they contain different vitamins and minerals.Vegetable juices are really strong .Carrot juice is the best as it is rich in vitamin A.

Today I reached a beautiful world,
A world of multi coloured vegetables!
Fresh and green straight from the fields,
A crowded and important spot of the city!
Vegetables are arranged in an artistic way,
They come in all different colours!
Orange,green,yellow and brown,
You just can't ignore them and leave!
The cabbages,qualiflowers,beans and carrots,
Potatoes,onions,drumsticks and bittergourds!
The red tomatoes,tapioca,yam and beetroots,
All the leafy vegetables steal our attention!
Mud was clinging to the tapioca,
I bought them in plenty to boil and have,
With the yummy onion chutney!
When you come to God's Own Country,
Your visit will be incomplete,
If you won't taste tapioca and boiled bananas!
The gooseberries are so big in size,
And I bought them in abundance!
Whenever my taste buds rise,
Nanda makes me munch the gooseberries!
She is much wiser,you see!
en you must drink plain water,
So,yummy the taste you will enjoy!
The strong stout and lean labourers,
The farmers,customers and the middlemen,
The rikshawas and the trucks,
The smell of the earth and the closeness to nature,
The local language and the simple laymen,
It is indeed a different world to me;
As I hardly visit the open markets!
Bananas were awesome sight,
Along with other colourful fruits!
What a great delight it was!
Hope,by now,you know,
How wonderful the day was!

Friends,
''In the night the cabbages catch at the moon, the leaves drip silver, the rows of cabbages are a series of
little silver waterfalls in the moon!''
This is the right time to plan a garden and some greenery for your house. When we see beauty daily,we will always feel young. Before the sun rises let us make the soil beds ready with the seeds.Nature will take care of the rest. All over the garden, let us enjoy the butterflies, the tiny birds and the whispers of leaves!Give a try, this monsoon!
It's Anu signing off........
Imagine, yaar, from the dirt of the mud,
How beautiful vegetables are popping up!
Love nature and be eco friendly!
Reminding you Anu loves you dil se,
Sending you some cool drops of rain,
Anupama thinks of you often if not always!:)
                                             Sasneham,
                                                         Anu
