SARVAISWARYA POOJA

3rd October,2010
Sunday
Dear Friends,
A pleasant morning to one and all!
It's a lovely and cool morning.A cool breeze is gently blowing from the sea.I have time to feel the freshness of the breeze and to enjoy the beauty of the deep blue sea, today. There are many ships and boats anchored at the harbour.I am so grateful to God for this wonderful visual sight that makes my day. Many new  buds have bloomed. It's Sunday;no need to rush to the workplace.I am in a relaxed mood.
Sree Ayyappa Temple Committee conducted Sarvaiswarya Pooja yesterday for the first time.Sadguru Brahamshri Radhakrishnan Namboothiri the Chief Priest of the famous Chakkulathukavu Sree Bhagavathy Temple,Kerala was the Acharyan at the pooja.Ladies, gents and children took part in the pooja in high spirits and with enthusiasm.Devotees brought lamp, gingelly oil, lamp wicks, flowers, camphor, steel plate and plaintain leaf. Those who could not get teh leaf were provided the same from the Temple.Ladies were looking so beautiful in traditional Mundum Veshti and Kerala saree.I simple love this lovely traditional dress.
Sarvaiswarya Pooja is a divine ritual where the thousand sacred names of the Goddess are chanted with extreme devotion.During the pooja flowers are offered in front of the lighted lamps as the Acharyan chants the main mantras. The participants repeat the mantra 'Om Parasakthiye Nama'.It is a divine experience.
Chakkulathamma  is famouly known as the Mother who answers the calls of the devotees.Irrespective of caste and creed, devotees reach at the Lotus Feet Of Bhagavathy.Chanting Her names, mantras and stotrams destroy our ignorance and pride.
Chakkulathu Bhagawathy Temple is in Neerettupuram in Tiruvalla District,Kerala. This is alos populary known as 'The Sabarimala Of Women''.
The temple is situated in the border of Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts. It is 12 km westward from teh town of Thiruvalla in Neerattupuram Junction. The famous rivers of Pampa and Manimala flow on either sides of the temple.
Chakkulathu Pongala is so popular.Devotees prepare the food as the simple offering to the Goddess. It is believed that Bhagawathy offers Her august  presence near each Pongala hearth as the cooking is done. There are experiences to quote to prove that confusions, problems, sorrows and tensions are removed through Pongala offering. It is also a symbolic reminder that devotion reaches the full circle through complete submission and total surrender at the Lotus Feet of the Mother. The Pongala Festival of this temple is one of the foremost rituals compared to anything in the whole state of Kerala.A large number of women offer Pongala on the Thrikkarthika of Vriskschika month. They also observe the Panthrandu Noimbu from the first Dhanu to the twelfth. There are aslo so many pilgrims who reach the temple with 'Irumudikettu''[bag with two bundles]up on their heads.
Devi sits inside the sanctum sanctorum with radiance of a thousand sun.Her gentle smile heals our sorrows. She is kind to the devotees and generous too.She resides as the embodiment of the powers that are centred in Vishnu,Siva,Brahma,Chandra,Varuna and Adithya. All the Gods and Goddesses praise Her Supremacy. She is all in one-Saraswathy the Goddesses of letters,Lakshmi the Goddesses of Prosperity and Parvathy who gives power to Shiva.
Nareepooja is another popular ritual of this Temple.Hindu tradition had always bestowed reverence and acceptance to Indian womenhood. If often reminded humanity that a woman who is respected is the cause for prosperity where as a woman who is dishonoured brings misfortune. We have the brilliant scene of Lord Shiva seating His wife Parvathy in the diamond decked throne in the evening before starting the dance. The Lord was fingering towrads teh importance of women in the family in order to usher in peace and progress. We must also remember the famous Sanskrit saying,
''Yethra Naryasthu Poojyante,
Remanthe thathra Devatha''.
Whereever women are adored the Gods get pleased.Chakkulathu Kavu Bhgavathy Temple has absorbed this glowing concept and introduced a very appealing ceremony-The Naree Pooja.
Women are seated on specially arranged seats.Their feet are respectfully washed. This is an indirect expression of the Indian belief that each woman is manifestivation of the Divine Mother.Thousands of wmen are invited to participate in this function.Innumerable devotees stand as witness to this rare ritual that proclaims the potency and glory of the Divine Mother.
The first Friday of every Malayalam month marks a spiritually significant day for the temple.Devotees who observe rigorous fasting and penance reach the shrine on this day.Special spiritual functions are also conducted on this day.The small idol of the God which is usually placed inside the sanctum sanctorum is now placed in the specially arranged place for prayer.Devotees sing hymns and songs of the Mother, scholarly and informative talks are made on spiritual subjects.
I must tell you, friends,I have participated in Sarvaiswarya Pooja for the first time. The atmosphere was so divine.Hundreds of lamps were lit and heaps of flowers were offered as per chanting of,'Om Parasaktiye Nama''.To shed the shells of pride and false ego, filling our minds with devotion I was in a holy world.he pooja took nearly one and hour. Our minds were filled with positive energy and in my mind with tears I was forgiving those friends who hurt me the most.T
Sadguru Brahmashri Radhakrishnan Namboothiri the chief priest of Chakkulathukav Sree Bhagavathy Temple has stamped a vivid impression in the spiritual sphere of Kerala and outside through his life of extreme spirituality as well as his predictions in betel astrology. The devotee gives seven or more betel leaves and a whole aricanut. He examines the shapes, nature and marks of the leaves and analyses the past, present, future, the problems and gives  solutions. He also uses a specially blessed conch which is rotated and its posituion observed to make predictions.
He has deeper understanding about the age-old traditions of this temple and channels each activity for the ultimate welfare of others. It is he who directs the various spiriyual endeavors like poojas ,pledge for liberation from intoxication, curing of the weak, distribution of medicated water.A number of Yagnas, yagas and rare poojas are conducted every year in this temple.A humble soul with an inimitable simplicity, sri.Radhakrishnan Namppothiri is believed to have received special blessings from the Goddess.
