Hurricane Anwar hits Malaysia (ahem, again)

RABU 0940. GAMBAR TERBARU SAIFUL
-------------------------------------------------------

Kini dia berusia 26 tahun, bukan 23. Silap saya.
Mamat ni dah bersumpah dalam masjid.
Najib pun berani bersumpah tentang isu Altantuya.

OK what!

Semakin lama diheret begini semakin membusukkan nama negara.
Malaysia is always attracting the wrong headlines. Saya kata gini, orang Malaysia marah pula.
Jadi Saudara Anwar, kasi cepat start lah brader.
Tak gereklah gini, kata mamat Geylang.

EARLIER POSTING

He controls international public opinion with a clever meeting with diplomats.
He controls international media opinion that the charges were all trumped up. You can see reports with such tones written by the major news agencies, the minor news websites and even the international magazines.
And Anwar Ibrahim is slick at doing these even as the Najib administration is seemingly hiding in the bunkers, seemingly unable to resolve the Allah issue, answer questions about the economy, uniting people again, etc.
The Chinese and Indians are angry with the government over the handling of the Allah issue.
The Malays are also angry with the government.
And now PM Najib Razak is facing a hurricane known as Sodomy 2.

And yet, the trial has not even started!

As a reporter, I covered the 1998 to 2000 trials involving the former deputy prime minister and finance minister.
I was in court almost daily (depan Dataran Merdeka), including seeing the infamous tilam Dunlop brought into court, watching Sukma Dermawan, driver Azizan, Ummi Hafilda and Anwar himself testifying.
Anwar was charged with abuse of power (basically for telling police personnel to force Ummi Hafilda and friend to retract allegations of sexual improprieties) and for sodomy.
I saw a lot of bullshit by both sides in court and outside. By both sides, yes.
Now the country will go through that spectacle again.

These days, the opposition had already decided that the court system is corrupt and can be manipulated by the government.
Ie anything less that a 'Not Guilty' verdict will mean that the judiciary is corrupt. The government has influenced the judges.

So the next time, if ever, you guys get brought up to court for not paying taxes, or for rape and murder, you should insist the same: We accept only a 'Not Guilty' verdict.
Anything else means the court system is corrupt and the judges have been bought.
Sigh.

I am not so much against Anwar or the opposition (I have said many times that as a reporter, I cannot take sides), as the fact that the court system to them is just another thing to manipulate to their advantage - the country's reputation be damned.
Re-read here my argument over the Perak issue - where the opposition only supports any court decision when it says Nizar betul, Zambry salah.
Anything else means that the court is corrupt.
Kalau macam ni, dia menang selalulah.

Oops, before I forget: The court will very soon decide on the Nizar-Zambry case.
So if Zambry wins 5-0, will the opposition accept the court decision?
I might as well ask if it's going to snow in Malaysia tomorrow.
It won't happen.
